Is Varicose Vein Treatment Covered by The NHS?
Endovenous radio-frequency obliteration of the saphenous vein, also known as the VNUS Closure procedure, can be performed instead of vein stripping in appropriate patients. Many NHS Hospitals across the UK are performing the procedure, but this is subject to local Primary Care Trust (PCT) guidelines. Its best you check with your General Practitioner (GP) to see if you are eligible. In addition to printing off and taking your self-assessment form, you may wish to print-off and give your GP the attached leaflet explaining The VNUS Closure® procedure in more detail.

Is Varicose Vein Treatment Covered by My Insurance?
As an alternative to conventional surgery, the Closure® procedure has the broadest and most complete insurance coverage available. As with most Medical procedures, eligibility of insurance reimbursement coverage is based on established medical necessity. Patients should consult their GP, vascular surgeon or contact their insurer for the specific requirements under their plan. Alternatively the procedure can be performed on a self-pay basis.
